Travels of a Tombstone Tourist

Yes, I am a "Tombstone Tourist," one of those people who loves to wander cemeteries. I find it akin to visiting an art museum; an opportunity to enjoy rarely appreciated sculpture and stained glass, intricate carvings and amazing architecture in a tranquil outdoor setting.

I began my cemetery blog, A Grave Interestalmost a decade ago. It deals with cemetery culture; art, history, issues of death, and genealogy. I usually find something intriguing in the cemetery, something that makes me want to dig deeper - to explore and share the fascinating histories of our cemeteries, and the stories of our ancestors.

When the owners of Family Tree Magazine asked if I would write a cemetery research book I said YES!

One year later, The Family Tree Cemetery Research Field Guide was published. For more information about the book, click on the Books tab. (And get ready, another book is in the making.)

I also speak around the country on cemetery culture, history and genealogy. If you'd like to learn more visit the Speaking Presentations tab.
